WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today promoted participation by small business owners and would-be entrepreneurs in a Delta Regional Authority (DRA) workshop that is aimed at improving the business sector throughout the Mississippi Delta.
The “Access the Delta: Enhancing Small Business and Entrepreneurship 2012” workshop is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, at the DRA Headquarters at 236 Sharkey Ave., Clarksdale, Miss. The event is free.
“This workshop has been designed to help strengthen small business development and growth in the Delta. It is my hope that the technical assistance and business information offered might help prompt new start-up businesses and aid existing enterprises,” Cochran said.
In addition to providing access to federal and state agency representatives, the workshop will also include advice from local lenders on accessing affordable capital.
The workshop is sponsored by the DRA, Mississippi Small Business Development Center, U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development in Mississippi.
