WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement regarding the deadly attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya:

“The assault on our consulate deserves the strongest condemnation and commitment to bring to justice those who carried out this attack.  We must also ensure that the necessary resources are provided to support our personnel in Libya, Egypt and in our diplomatic posts around the world.

“I am saddened by the loss of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the three other Americans killed in the assault.  My thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones.  The victims, like all those who serve in the United States Foreign Service, deserve our appreciation and gratitude.”
